P-22 Agreement Form

If you`re a fan of hiking in the Los Angeles area, you may have heard of the P-22 agreement form. This form is an important part of preserving the wildlife in the Santa Monica Mountains, particularly the famous mountain lion known as P-22.

P-22 is a male mountain lion who gained fame in 2012 when he was photographed with the Hollywood sign in the background. He has since become a symbol of urban wildlife in Los Angeles, but his survival in such a developed area is not guaranteed.

To help protect P-22 and other wildlife in the area, the National Park Service and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife have established the P-22 agreement form. This form is required for anyone who wants to use certain trails in the eastern portion of the Santa Monica Mountains, where P-22 is known to roam.

The form is relatively simple and asks hikers to agree to certain terms to help protect the wildlife in the area. These terms include staying on designated trails, not bringing dogs into the area, and disposing of trash properly. By agreeing to these terms, hikers can help ensure that P-22 and other wildlife have the space and resources they need to thrive in an urban environment.

In addition to the P-22 agreement form, there are other efforts underway to protect wildlife in the Santa Monica Mountains. For example, the National Park Service is working to build wildlife crossings over highways to help animals safely travel between different areas of the mountains.

If you plan to hike in the Santa Monica Mountains, remember to fill out the P-22 agreement form and follow all the guidelines listed. By doing so, you can help protect the wildlife in the area and ensure that future generations can enjoy the natural beauty of this unique region.
